Shortly after taking off from Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, on April 30, 1967, a United States Air Force (USAF) Douglas C-133B Cargomaster (tail number 59-0534) encountered an in-flight emergency while en route to Midway Island. After one engine malfunctioned, the crew decided to return to base for an emergency landing. However, during the final approach, a malfunction in the propeller control system caused a loss of power in the remaining operational engines. Faced with this situation, the pilot decided to ditch the aircraft in the sea approximately 5 kilometers off the coast of Okinawa. All nine crew members were successfully rescued without loss of life.🇺🇸✈
