This is my Great Grampa Theodore Barret, member of the 390th bomb group and Navigator for B-17 bombers, he flew around 20 sorties over enemy territory including the biggest daylight raid on Berlin, on March 18th 1945, where he was navigator for a lead plane with Colonel Joseph A. Moller. The 390th led the entire 8th air force that day including 1,329 bombers and 733 fighter.

unfortunately not too much is recorded about this raid and I’d love to hear any stories related to it. another mission he was on which was one of his favorites was “operation Chow hound” which was where he along with many others dropped thousands of tons of food to the starving Dutch people and saved millions.
I just joined this group but I hope to maybe find at least one story that connects to my great grandfather in some way. if anyone recognizes him somehow from their own crew photographs or has any stories/information to share id love to hear about it. Thank you and I’m happy to be a new member of this group.
