Lest We Forget…
US Marine Corporal Matthew Henderson was Killed In Action on May 26, 2004, in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. The 25-year-old squad leader was on his 2nd deployment to Iraq and in the final weeks of his tour when he volunteered for a dangerous mission.
On that day, while leading his squad on a route clearance patrol sweeping for improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and repairing major roads an IED detonated. Matthew courageously warned his men to take cover, but he and two fellow Marines, including Kyle Codner, were killed in the blast.
