Feiga Farkas was 24 years old, born 1920 in Bistra, Romania, cousin of Benjamin, Ruth, Miriam and Yitzhak Farkas, daughter of Hannah and Mendel’s extended family.
Feiga lived in Vișeu de Sus and was forced into the Vișeu ghetto in April 1944. According to Yad Vashem’s Hungarian transport lists, she was deported on 20 May 1944 with the Farkas family to Auschwitz.
The transport arrived on 22 May 1944. Feiga was selected for labor as a young woman and sent to Birkenau, assigned to the agricultural commando at Rajsko. The Arolsen Archives list Feiga Farkas, born 1920 Bistra, prisoner number A-7845.
She survived four months. The Birkenau hospital records show Feiga died on 3 October 1944 of dysentery, age 24. Her cousins Benjamin died in November, Miriam in September, Yitzhak on a death march in January 1945, and Ruth and Hannah were gassed on arrival in May.
