Ryszard Borghard was a Polish man born in Warsaw on March 30, 1921. He was a metal worker. When he was eighteen years old, the Nazis invaded Poland. Around the time of his twentieth birthday, he was arrested by the Nazis and placed on a transport to Auschwitz.

There were 1,021 men on the same transport as him, all of whom had been arrested for various reasons, such as social class, political affiliations, underground involvement, or passive resistance.

Ryszard, like most of the men on the transport, was not Jewish. The exact reason he was arrested is not known.

He arrived in the camp on April 6, 1941, and was registered the next day. He was given the number 12611 and was held as a slave laborer within Auschwitz. Camp records note his death as taking place on October 10, 1941. His exact cause of death was not noted. He was just twenty years old.
