Clear Annie Cameron, born on March 8, 1877, in Pendleton, England, was the daughter of Harry Arthur Cameron and Annie Chiles. In 1912, she and her friend Nellie Walcroft emigrated to the U.S. aboard the Titanic, where they were second-class passengers. After the iceberg struck, they boarded lifeboat 14 and were rescued by the Carpathia.
After arriving in New York, Clear worked for a “Society Lady” but found the city uncomfortable. She later moved to Haverford, Pennsylvania. In 1914, she married Ernest William Francis, and the couple returned to England, settling in Surrey. Clear died on February 2, 1962, at age 84. Ernest passed away later that year.
