Thomas Andrews’s Dedication to Work 😮

During his evening rounds at 9:30 PM on April 11, 1912, Steward Henry Etches noticed Thomas Andrews’s blue work uniform tossed onto the bed in Cabin A-36. Titanic’s chief designer had spent the day working tirelessly—venturing all the way down to the stifling boiler rooms on Deck E—rather than socializing in the lounges; consequently, he was frequently rushing to attend to important matters and consistently retiring very late.

The Final Sunday Service on the Titanic 🥹

On the morning of April 14, 1912, stewards quickly prepared the Dining Saloon for a 45-minute Protestant Sunday service for first-class passengers. Led by Captain Smith and accompanied by the ship’s orchestra, the service notably omitted the hymn “Eternal Father, Strong to Save.” Meanwhile, services for other classes were led by a Catholic priest; the second-class service was particularly memorable, concluding with the hymn “O God, Our Help in Ages Past.”
